For years, Instagram has been a go-to platform for painters, photographers, and artists to showcase their work and gain exposure. Today, many are abandoning the app to stop Meta (parent company of Instagram) from using their work to train artificial intelligence models, The Washington Post reports. The protests emerged after a Meta executive said last month that the company views public posts on Instagram as part of its AI training data. Many artists, fearful of losing their livelihoods, now say they are moving to Cara, a platform that forbids AI posts and training.
Cara - a new social platform for artists:
- Prohibits GenAI artwork
- Has no institutional investors
- Automated AI image detection & filtering
- Has a community-based verification system
- Will be introducing GenAI poisoning by default
- Is led by a photographer who understands the artist's struggle
We're excited to see how this new platform evolves. Read the full article from Fast Company via the link below.
